The ASA Open Water Festival took place at Sheffield’s Rother Valley on Sunday 24th July. 12/13/14 year age group raced 1.5km in the morning followed by 15/16 year age group racing 3km in the afternoon.
Each event was split into waves and swimmers went out in separate age groups with both boys and girls in different waves.

The weather was kind with only a few spots of rain and the lake temperature was a tropical 23 degrees! Although Open Water is not for the faint hearted.
Stockport Metro’s competitors who also swam previously at a much colder Salford Quays for the ‘Regional Open Water event’ were:

Madelaine Parkinson – 12 years who finished overall 6th in 21.08
Grace Wakefield – 13 years who finished overall 25th in 24.21
Alisha Hawkins – 15 years who finished overall 5th in 39.48
