On the opening day of the Championships, Stockport Metro’s competitors were: Harry Lewis Mitchell (400FR), Harrison Coulter (400FR), Elizabeth Harris (200FR), Holly Hibbott (200FR), Simon Smith (100BR), Katelyn Bergin (400IM), Kiera Henley (400IM), Megan Sheard (400IM), Lucie McKenzie (400IM), Ciaran Beard-Jones (50BK), Rebecca Pearson (50 BR) and Katie Matts (50BR).

Heats session
Harry & Harrison got Stockport off to a storming start in the men's 400m freestyle. A 2.8 sec pb for Harry and a 0.9 sec pb for Harrison; Harrison making tonight's Men's 17/18yrs final in 7th position. 
Next up were Holly & Lizzie in heat 9 of the Women's 200m freestyle; both making their respective finals tonight. Lizzie in the top spot, lane 4, for the 16yrs & Holly in 3rd in the 17/18yrs. 
Simon was up next in the Men's 100m breaststroke and qualified 9th for tonight's 19yrs/over final. 
The Women's 400IM saw 4 Stockport competitors taking part: Megan, Katelyn & Kiera in the 15yrs age group and Lucy in the 19yrs/over. A 2.2 sec pb from Megan secured her place in tonight's finals along with Kiera and Lucy. 
Ciaran was Stockport's sole competitor in the Men's 50 backstroke and made the final of the 19yrs/over in 6th position. 
It was a new Girls 13yrs SM club record for Rebecca Pearson in the final event of the day, the Women's 50m breaststroke; touching in the first heat with a pb of 35.30. 
Katie Matts secured her place in the Women's 17/18 yrs final in 2nd position. 

Finals session
This evening finals showcased the following Stockport swimmers:
Harrison Coulter (400FR), Elizabeth Harris (200FR), Holly Hibbott (200FR), Simon Smith (100BR), Kiera Henley (400IM), Megan Sheard (400IM), Lucie McKenzie (400IM), Ciaran Beard-Jones (50BK) and Katie Matts (50BR). 
Up first for Stockport was Harrison with 10th place in the Men's 400 freestyle. 
The Women's 200 freestyle saw the first medals of the evening for Stockport with Lizzie winning SILVER in the 16yrs, missing out on gold by just 0.01 of a second, and Holly winning SILVER in the 17yrs age category. 
In the Men's 100 breaststroke race Simon placed 10th. 
Next came an exciting race for Stockport in the Women's 15yrs 400 IM with Kiera & Megan swimming in adjacent lanes, neck & neck all the way the girls pushed each other to achieve pbs, Megan touching in 6th place with 5:02.33 and Kiera in 7th in a 5:02.46. 
The 3rd SM medal of the evening was a BRONZE won by Lucy in the 19yrs/over Women's 400IM. 
A new (joint) Men's club record was achieved by Ciaran touching 5th with a time of 26.36 in the Men's 50m backstroke matching James Goddard's record from March 2003; also achieved at Ponds Forge. 
Stockport's last final of the evening and another SILVER medal, won by Katie in the Women's 50m breaststroke 17/18 yrs in a time of 31.84.
