Day Four of the British Summer Championships, saw the Metro squad competing in Breaststroke, Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke events. Stockport Metro’s competitors for the morning were:
Ben Foster (200BR), Elizabeth Harris (100FR), Katie Matts (100FR), Emma Gage (100FR), Luke Kearslake (100FLY), Harry Lewis-Mitchell (100FLY), Katelyn Bergin (200BK), Hannah Jones (200BK) and Anna Newlands (200BK)

First up was Ben Foster in the men’s 200m breaststroke touching in a time of 2.39.17. Following this was the ladies 100m freestyle in which we had three competitors, Lizzie Harris, Katie Matts and Emma Gage. All three made tonight’s final with times of Lizzie, 5th fastest – 58.50, Katie, 5th fastest – 57.42 and Emma, 8th fastest - 56.97 in their respective age groups. Katie also bagged herself a PB. Next was the men’s 100m fly which saw Luke Kearslake finish with a time of 1.00.07 and Harry Lewis-Mitchell secure himself a place in the final in 8th position, with a PB of 56.08. Finally, we concluded the mornings racing with ladies 200m backstroke. First to swim was Katelyn Bergin who PB’d with a time of 2.21.35 which also qualified 9th fastest for a place in the final, next to swim was Hannah Jones who touched in a time of 2.21.32 and finally Anna Newlands also qualified 4th fastest for tonight’s final with a time of 2.16.46.


Finals: 
And so to finals… first it was the ladies 100m freestyle in which Stockport had three finalists. In the 16 year age group Lizzie Harris finished in 6th place with 58.10, Katie Matts took 5th place in the 17/18 year age group with a time and new PB of 57.01 and finally in the 19 and over age group Emma Gage came 10th with a time of 57.00. Following this Harry Lewis-Mitchell took 10th place in the 17/18 year old age group men’s 100m butterfly, he did this in a time of 56.34. The last event today in which the mighty Metro had finalists was the ladies 200m backstroke. Katelyn Bergin took 9th place in the 15 year age group with a time of 2.21.96 and finally Anna Newlands finished off the day with a 4th place, touching in 2.14.50.
