Lauren Quigley continues a tradition of world class swimmers in her family, her mother Yvonne Stanley having swum internationally and her aunt Gaynor Stanley having competed for Team GB at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

She underlined her potential as a 16-year old, winning her first British senior medal with 50m Backstroke bronze at the 2011 British Gas Swimming Championships, then adding silver on her international debut at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade.

After making two finals at the Olympic Trials in London, Quigley repeated the feat at the European Short Course Championships in Chartres, finishing sixth in the 50m Backstroke and seventh in the 100m Back.

Having won her first national title with 100m Backstroke gold at the 2013 British Gas Swimming Championships, Quigley impressed to reach the 50m Back final and 100m Back semi-finals on her World Championship debut in Barcelona later in the year.

She completed her set of British titles with the 50m and 200m Backstroke crowns in 2014 before competing in her first Commonwealth Games for England at Glasgow 2014, winning 50m Back silver and 4x100m Medley Relay silver
